About Me
I'm John - photographer, ex-tutor, lifelong creative, and proud owner of a very opinionated Patterdale Terrier called Hollie.
I've worked in the creative sector my entire adult life, and photography has been at the centre of it for decades. I run my own wedding photography business, and I've retired from my role as a photography tutor at Bishop Auckland College after many years of teaching the next generation of photographers.
That combination matters for you. I bring the technical knowledge and calm that comes from years of professional work, but also the people skills from years of teaching. Whether it's a nervous family shoot, a christening or baptism, a business headshot day, or a busy awards ceremony, I'm good at making people feel relaxed and getting natural results.
Outside of client work, you'll find me outdoors - it doesn't matter if it's a city street or out in the wilds. I love to observe the world from every angle. I'm a keen wildlife protector and birdwatcher, and I photograph birds in my spare time, which has made me pretty patient when waiting for the right moment.
When I'm not behind the viewfinder, I'm usually behind a bass guitar. I've been in bands since my teens and music is still a huge part of my life.
At the heart of it all are my friends. For me, photography has always been about people and connection, and that's what I bring to every shoot - whether it's a portrait, a family gathering, a party, or a business event.
I'd love to hear what you're planning.
